We all know Utah for its great snow and world-renowned ski resorts. Utah offers some of the best skiing there is. But, what people don’t know is that after a day in the mountains, you can drive 30 minutes to enjoy an evening in the city at one of Salt Lake’s performing arts programs. Whether it is a night listening to Beethoven’s Symphony or the Opera’s performance of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, there is plenty of culture to enjoy in Utah.
Last week, The Utah Symphony and Utah Opera launched their new “Après-Ski” program. This program allows skiers to bring in their ski pass from the week to redeem $35 best seat in the house tickets to the Symphony or the Opera. All they have to do is call in and mention the “Après-Ski” program and present their lift ticket when they arrive, and they will receive the deal. The program is geared towards visitors, so season passes do not qualify for the deal at this time. To celebrate the beginning of this new program, four members of the symphony performed in Abravanel Hall while dressed in their ski attire. Members of Visit Salt Lake, Ski Utah, The Utah Office of Tourism, and the Utah Symphony spoke about their excitement for the new program. President of Visit Salt Lake, Scott Beck, reminded attendees that “only in Ski City can an après-ski symphony or opera experience be so closely connected.” Salt Lake is redefining Après-Skiing. Nowhere else can you go from skiing at the resort to watching the symphony in 30 minutes. It is truly unique and one of our favorite parts about skiing in Utah. The convenience of Salt Lake City is second to none. This program is a great opportunity for visitors, and even some locals, to experience the culture this city has to offer.
