Ft Union Ski Corridor – the Road to Brighton Bliss and Sublime Solitude

Driving along the main road through the city of Midvale, leading right into Utah’s Big Cottonwood Canyons, is like driving through a directory of hotels, restaurants, and ski shops – namely Ski ‘N See and ARCS. Hotels in the area range from basic discount hotels, for those who simply want a place to lay their head at night, to hotels with a list of comforts and amenities. Those comforts include free meals, pools, and hot tubs, all within walking distance to all a wide range of restaurants.

Not to be outdone is the access to public transportation to ski resorts and downtown Salt Lake City. Utah’s light-rail, Trax, stops right on Fort Union Boulevard and a ski bus runs all along the Fort Union Corridor heading into the canyons. At the base of the Cottonwood Canyons, skiers can continue to drive 10-15 minutes straight up to Brighton and Solitude, or turn toward Little Cottonwood Canyon and drive a different 10-15 minutes up to Snowbird and Alta.
