Why You Should Go Skiing On Christmas Day

Christmas day is all about being with the people that you love and spending quality time together participating in family traditions. We get that. Christmas brunch is always nice, but we are going to suggest that you do something even better with your family this year. Take your Christmas festivities up to the slopes! Christmas is one of THE BEST days to go skiing during the holidays. Sure, it might not be a part of your traditional Christmas Day festivities…but it will be worth it to hit the slopes this year. Here is why:

  • You can say “hi” to Santa! You will be sure to find holiday cheer on the slopes Christmas Day as you see Santa charging the mountain (you could probably find him up there Christmas Eve as well). Santa will be up at all the resorts lapping the groomers, so make sure to stop and say “hi,” and he might even give you some Christmas candy.

  • You can work off all those sugar cookies and holiday calories on the slopes! Yeah, you could sit at home, cozied up by the fire, drinking hot chocolate and eating baked goods. That sounds nice, until later that night when you are rolled over on the couch regretting your food consumption from earlier in the day. Best to head to the slopes and get some exercise instead!

  • No crowds! Everyone is busy going to family parties and participating in festive activities, so you will have the resort all to yourself! There is nothing better than wide open slopes and no lines at the ski resort!

  • Lastly, and most importantly, the powder! Utah resorts have seen an abundance of snow this last weekend (over 32 inches up Little Cottonwood), and more snow is on its way for Christmas. And let’s be honest, how often do you get to ski on a powder day without the crowds? It is not something you want to miss out on!
