Christmas Break on the Slopes

This Christmas Break make sure to get away from the mall one day and head up to the slopes to find a little holiday cheer! Between skiing with Santa and holiday concerts, the local ski resorts are finding all kinds of ways to get into the Christmas Spirit…and more importantly, ways to avoid the mall. Here is a list of some of the events going on up on the slopes this December!

CANYONS:

12/12/14 – 12/21/14 – DecemberFest
Kick your holidays off by heading to Canyons for DecemberFest, a new ten-day festival including morning and après musical acts, village entertainers, a Resort Lighting Ceremony, and more! Check out the full schedule HERE.

12/20/14 – Santa Skis Free
Canyons will be having their 8th annual Santa Skis Free Day this year! On Saturday, December 20th, the first 50 guests that come dressed in St. Nick’s attire (or Mrs. Claus, reindeer or elves) will ski or ride for free (on December 20th, 2014 only). Guests must be in FULL costume, no partial costumes will count. Registration: Top of the Cabriolet in the Resort Village from 8:00am – 9:00am.

12/24/14-12/25/14 – Santa on the Slopes

Santa will glide the slopes of Canyons Resort, delivering candy and treats to all the good boys and girls around.  Look for Santa in the Resort Village or on the Ski Beach, or even on the slopes.

12/31/14 – New Year’s Eve Celebration
The New Year’s Eve Celebration at Canyons is fun for the entire family!  Family friendly activities include live entertainment, Sleigh Rides, Live Music, a Torchlight Parade, and our massive fireworks display.  Find the full schedule HERE.

PARK CITY MOUNTAIN RESORT:

12/24/14 – Christmas Eve Celebrations
Enjoy holiday music and hot beverages and cookies on the plaza at sunset before watching Park City Mountain Resort’s Ski & Snowboard School snake down PayDay trail for a traditional /Torchlight Parade. Admission and refreshments are free. Santa will be skiing the mountain all day, and the Torchlight Parade festivities begin at 5:30pm.

DEER VALLEY:

12/24/24 – Santa Visits Deer Valley
Santa will be visiting guests in the Snow Park Lodge area from 9 to 11 a.m. From noon to 1:30 p.m. Santa will meet guests in the Silver Lake Lodge area. Guests and their children are invited to bring a camera and take their picture with Santa.

12/30/14 – Deer Valley’s Annual Torchlight Parade
The Torchlight Parade will be held at approximately 6 p.m. (dusk) on Big Stick ski run on Bald Eagle Mountain, behind Snow Park Lodge. The Snow Park Restaurant will remain open during the event with a full menu. In addition, complimentary hot cider and cookies will be served from 5:45 to 6 p.m

SNOWBIRD:

12/21/14 – Santa Sunday
First 100 people dressed in a complete Santa Claus suit ski free and access a special Tram at 10:15 a.m. Register at the Activity Center from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. and meet outside the Activity Center at 10:15 a.m. to be escorted to a special Santa Express Tram. Full outfits must include a white beard or wig, traditional red jacket with white trim and belt, and red pants.

12/24/14 – Christmas Eve Festivities
Head over to the Plaza Deck for bonfires, the Torchlight Parade and a great fireworks display. At the end, Santa Claus will rappel out of the Tram to say hello to the kids! The night will end with a candlelight service with caroling. Check out the full schedule HERE.

12/24/14-12/25/14 – Christmas Dinner
A special Christmas dinner will be served from 5pm-10pm at The Aerie, The Lodge Bistro, and The Steak Pit.

12/26/14-12/31/14 – Fireside Cocoa & Music
The festivities don’t end after Christmas! Head over to the Plaza Deck for hot chocolate and waffles by the fire and live musical entertainment every day from 3pm – 5 pm for the whole week after Christmas. Check out the schedule HERE.

12/31/14 – NYE Torchlight Parade & Fireworks

The New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks is a great way for you and all of your friends and family to kick-off your New Year’s Eve celebrations. The parade starts at 6 pm and the celebrations last all night! Check out the full schedule HERE.

ALTA:

12/31/14 – Torchlight Parade
The Torchlight Parade has been a long tradition at Alta. Families and friends gather and ride the Collins lift up at nightfall to begin the celebration of another year’s end. This season Alta will be charging all who participate in the parade a minimum donation of $5. 100% of the proceeds will go to the Utah Food Bank. Tickets will be on sale from 8:45 am until 6 pm at the Wildcat Base Ticket Office on December 31st. Find more information HERE.

BRIGHTON RESORT:

Every day until Christmas – Santa on the Slopes
Skip out on the crazy mall crowds this year and head up to Brighton Resort to take a picture with Santa! Santa will be up at the resort every day until Christmas passing out candy and taking pictures.

12/24/14-12/25/14 – Santa Skis Free
Anyone who is dressed in full Santa gear on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day gets a free lift ticket for the day! Participants must be wearing a full costume (Santa  hat, beard, red coat and red pants) to get the free ticket. So, find yourself a Santa suit and head up to Brighton to join the Party!

SOLITUDE MOUNTAIN RESORT:

12/30/2014 – Kids Glow Parade
Participants are asked to meet at The Last Chance Southwest Grill at 5 pm for registration and refreshments. This magical event is for kids of all ages. Participants are invited to chow down on tasty treats and are then loaded into a snowcat for a ride up the hill. All participants are covered in glow sticks to celebrate the New Year!
12/31/2014 – Alphorn
The Alphorn is an ancient instrument dating back over 2000 years to the Celtic tribes of the Alps. The melodies of the Alphorn were used to signal “All is well in the Valley”. Join Solitude in their celebration of the New Year as the traditional playing of the Alphorn reverberates around Big Cottonwood Canyon. The Alphorn will be at Moonbeam lodge from 11:30 am – 12:30 pm, and Solitude Village from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm.

SNOWBASIN:

12/24/24 – Children’s Christmas Eve Celebration
Snowbasin Resort will be hosting our annual Christmas Eve Celebration on Wednesday, December 24th. After a day of skiing with Santa, enjoy a Christmas Eve torchlight parade and fireworks show on City Hill. Get pictures with Santa before he heads out to spread Christmas cheer around the world! Christmas Eve dinner will be available in Earl’s Lodge from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Find more details HERE.
