Utah has always been known as having The Greatest Snow on Earth, it even says so on the Utah state license plates, so it has to be true. Now, three major ski magazines are giving some Utah some well-earned national attention. Skiing, Ski, and Powder magazine took notice of this year’s monster dumps, featuring three different resorts on their January 2013 magazine covers.
Out of 427 ski areas across the Northern U.S., eight of Utah’s 14 resorts are rated in the top 30 this year, including (in order of rankings) Deer Valley, Park City Mountain Resort, Canyons, Snowbird, Brighton, Solitude, and Snowbasin.
Left: Brighton resort is known for its night skiing and local Steve Lloyd used special lighting to help capture a colorful action shot of skier Kevin Brower.
Center: Local Adam Barker got the Ski Magazine cover shot at Solitude Ski Resort as Julian Carr showed off the beauty of the pow that is Utah’s snow.
Right: Powder magazine’s cover was not for just any edition, but for the Photo Annual, featuring skier Tyler Knoles engulfed in a cloud of deep powder at Alta Ski Resort – shot by photographer Jim Harris.
