Bird is the word people. Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort has got the goods. Whether it is snowing buckets in January or sunny skies in August, there is plenty of fun to be had up at their resort. We all know what we can expect from Snowbird in the winter time, steep terrain and great powder days. But what does Snowbird have to offer in the summer? Here are some of our favorite things about summer at The Bird.
Mountain Biking
If you are not hitting the slopes with your skis or board, bringing your mountain bike is the next best thing. Snowbird has a variety of different trails to spend the day playing on. Whether you like cross-country biking or enjoy the rush of a downhill track, they will have trails that suite you. New to Snowbird this year is the Big Mountain downhill trail. It is a single track that takes you from the top of the Tram, through Gad Valley, and back down to the Snowbird Center. This is an awesome, scenic trail and a must-ride if you enjoy downhill biking!
Mountain Coaster
The Mountain Coaster is a thrilling ride that takes you up, down, and around through the trees. The coaster is hooked onto the track and all passengers wear seatbelts, so there is no reason to fear going fast. However, for those that would like a more scenic ride of the mountain, you can take it nice and slow using the breaks on the sides. The Mountain Coaster is awesome, you will be lapping that ride like you lap the Cirque on a powder day.
Aerial Tram Rides
Riding the Snowbird tram in the summer is a completely different experience than riding the tram during the winter season. First of all, the aerial views are so much better when you aren’t dealing with the winter crowds. You can go from one window to the next taking in the amazing views of the canyon. Then, once you get to the top, you are at the start of all kinds of different hikes and bike rides. You may choose to bike down, hike down, or enjoy the scenery at the top until the next tram comes to take you back down to the base.
Oktoberfest
Now we know this might not fall under the “summer” category, but it is really awesome, and it starts in the middle of August so we are going to keep it on our Summer favorites list. Oktoberfest goes from the middle of August until the middle of October. This celebration has been going on in Utah since the 70’s, and it has become a very popular event to attend. Snowbird puts on all sorts of authentic German entertainment. You will feel like you have landed in Germany when you are on the mountain top listening to the Alphorns play. If you have the chance, stop by during Snowbird’s Oktoberfest, it is not something you want to miss. Make sure to bring your Bierkrug (Beer Mug) and come ready to drink, play, and have a good time!

Other Activities
The above mentioned activities are just a peek at what Snowbird has to offer in the summer. There are plenty of other awesome activities to get out and do in addition to the ones mentioned above. If you are looking for a fun way to spend the day with family or friends, the Alpine Slide, Mountain Flyer, and the Ropes Course provide great entertainment and fun way to spend time in the mountains. Fun at The Bird continues into summer nights, they are always putting on events like weekly outdoor movies, Saturday night concerts, outdoor yoga, and so much more. And everything is always so much better when it takes place in the mountains, right?
